TJX COMPANIES CEO, CAROL MEYROWITZ, WILL STEP DOWN AT THE END OF JANUARY. SHE HAS HELD THE POSITION SINCE 2007 AND IS ONE OF THE HIGHEST PROFILE FEMALE EXECUTIVES IN THE STATE. MEYROWITZ WILL BECOME EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR A THREE YEAR TERM. HER SUCCESSOR, CURRENT PRESIDENT ERNIE HERMAN, WILL REMAIN TJX’S PRESIDENT AND IS JOINING THE COMPANY’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS. HE HAS BEEN WITH THE COMPANY SINCE 1989 AND WILL OVERSEE THEIR NEARLY THREE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED STORES IN SEVEN COUNTRIES.

MONEY MAGAZINE, IN COLLABORATION WITH PERSONAL FINANCE SITE NERDWALLET, REPORTED THAT MARLBOROUGH BASED BANK DCU MADE ITS LIST OF BEST CREDIT CARDS. DCUS CARD WAS ONE OF FOURTEEN MENTIONED IN THE FIVE CATEGORIES IN THE OCTOBER 2015 ISSUE. THE CARD WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE TOP CHOICE FOR CONSUMERS WHO LOOK TO CARRY A BALANCE. THIS PARTICULAR CARD OFFERS ONE OF THE LOWEST INTEREST RATES IN THE COUNTRY AND HAS NO ANNUAL OR MONTHLY MAINTENANCE FEES. DCU IS A NONPROFIT FINANCIAL COOPERATIVE THAT SERVES OVER 500,000 MEMBERS ACROSS AMERICA AND WILL BE OPENING A NEW BRANCH SOON IN WORCESTER.

THOSE WHO COMMUTE BY RAIL TO BOSTON FROM SOUTHBOROUGH WILL BE HAPPY TO HEAR THAT MORE PARKING IS COMING SOON. AN ADDITIONAL PRIVATE PAY LOT AT FITZGERALD’S GENERAL STORE WAS APPROVED BY THE TOWNS PLANNING BOARD. THE GATED AND PAVED LOT WILL HAVE 70 SPACES AND UPGRADED LIGHTING AND LANDSCAPING. IT WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE TO MONTHLY RENTERS. FITZGERALDS CUSTOMER WILL STILL HAVE THEIR OWN PARKING AREA. THE HOPE IS THAT THIS SOLUTION WILL HELP KEEP TRAFFIC AND ILLEGAL PARKING TO A MINIMUM. THE PROPERTY OWNER PLANS TO HAVE THE LOT OPEN BY THE END OF THIS YEAR.

OVER 40 LOCAL ARTISAN CHEESE MAKERS, REPRESENTING OVER 100 NEW ENGLAND CHEESE VARIETIES WILL BE HIGHLIGHTED. TASTING EVENTS, CHEESE PAIRINGS AND LEARNING ABOUT THE CHEESE MAKING PROCESS ARE JUST SOME OF THE ACTIVITIES THAT ARE PLANNED. WINE, BEER AND CHOCOLATE WILL ALSO BE AVAILABLE.
